Welcome to Internal Medicine Northwest (IMNW). Our doctors and nurse practitioners offer our patients compassionate care in many settings. We follow our patients in our Baker Center clinic, in many local hospitals, at the Franciscan Wound Care Center, and at several nursing homes. In order to provide the most current treatments available, we offer participation in clinical studies. Our care is comprehensive and considerate.
Internal Medicine Northwest is located on the third floor of the Baker Center, across from the Tacoma General Hospital at 316 Martin Luther King Jr. Way. There is convenient free parking in the adjacent garage. We accept Medicare and have contracts with most major insurance providers.
IMNW Doctors, nurses, and medical assistants joined the health care profession because they care about people and making a difference in their lives.
“I like to help people. It is satisfying when a patient tells me she has ten years of her life back. Making a difference is your reward for helping people to stay well and be productive for themselves and others.”
Iftikhar Chowdhry, MD (Rheumatologist)
Internal Medicine Northwest providers understand and have compassion for their patients.
“I have always wanted to be a nurse and help people the best I can. I have lupus so I can empathize with my patients. And I can tell them that I didn’t let it stop me from pursuing my dream.”
Sonia Coleman, ARNP, ANP (Adult Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner)
It is reassuring to know that the IMNW team provides care in a variety of settings. Patients only need to go to one place and know their providers will be able to follow them in the clinic, hospital, wound care clinic, and skilled nursing facility. This complete adult heath care means excellent diagnosis, preventative health, hospital care, and management of chronic disease.
Many of our patients suffer from chronic conditions like hypertension, osteoporosis, heart conditions, dementia, or diabetes. Medical science is constantly searching for better treatments and improved medications. For over 18 years, IMNW has been engaged in clinical research. As a patient of IMNW you may choose to participate in a clinical study and have access to the most up-to-date medical treatment.
IMNW believes in harnessing technology for patient and records management. Since our beginnings in March 1984, we instituted electronic medical records. By interfacing with regional and national data base systems we have access to up-dated disease and treatment information for our patients. Of course, we have implemented web based communications for patients to reach us on an ongoing basis.
Most recently we have implemented telephonic monitoring of patients in order to allow us to collect a patient’s vital measures from the convenience of their own home. This allows patients many times to avoid or minimize serious problems.
